About this product
The big Otamatone Deluxe dressed as PAC-MAN: longer stem, wider range, and a jack for headphones or an amp.
Maywa Denki's Otamatone is one of Japan's best-selling musical instruments, and this Deluxe model wears a special PAC-MAN edition design. We buy it from an authorised seller in the United States after you order, check the model and edition before it goes out, and ship it to you with tracking.
Highlights
- Slide or rest a finger along the stem to change the pitch, then squeeze the cheeks for vibrato; no music training needed.
- Longer, wider and more responsive stem than the Original Otamatone, so there is more room for notes and easier control.
- Three pitch ranges (low, medium, high) let you play with friends in harmony.
- Built-in 3.5 mm stereo jack connects to headphones for quiet practice, or to an amp or speaker for a louder show.
- Comes with an aux cable, three AA batteries, an English manual and an Otamatone strap, so it is ready to play out of the box.
- Lightweight and portable, so it travels to parties, camping trips and campfire singalongs.
How to play it
Hold the Otamatone by the stem and press a finger onto it: the position sets the note, and sliding your finger glides between notes. Squeeze the silicone cheeks to open the mouth for a wah or vibrato effect. It can be set to low, medium or high pitch, so two or three Otamatones can play in harmony.
What makes the Deluxe different
The Deluxe is the large model. Its stem is longer and wider than the Original's, which gives a wider range of playable notes and makes precise pitches easier to hit, so it suits both beginners and experienced players. The 3.5 mm stereo jack means you can practise with headphones or plug into an amp.
Who it's for
The maker recommends it for teens and up. It is a fun gift for PAC-MAN fans, retro-game collectors and anyone who likes an instrument that is a little silly and genuinely playable. Materials are plastic and silicone; it is about 43 cm (17 in) long and weighs about 0.73 kg (1.6 lb).
